About the ‘Start-Up Energy Transition’ initiative (SET)
A celebration of innovation, of tenacity, and of companies revolutionizing the energy world
While other lists purely stress innovation or business success, the Start Up Energy Transition (SET) celebrates innovative start-ups that the international community of cross-sectoral experts has acknowledged to have the largest impact in energy and in the fight against climate change. Powered by the German energy agency (dena) in cooperation with the World Energy Council, the initiative connects start-ups, international venture capitalists, investors and partners in the public sector. Across the globe, more than 100 partners from politics, industry, science and non-government organisations get involved. Read more

Climate change and the energy transition are some of the greatest challenges humanity has ever faced, and those named in the SET-100 work specifically to overcome them. As part of the SET Award 2019, the top 100-ranked global start-ups shortlisted for the SET Awards are rewarded the opportunity to participate and showcase their ingenious solutions as part of the Innovation Hub at the 24th World Energy Congress in Abu Dhabi.
